SENTOSA STAYLIST: THE ULTRA-PRIVATE, LUXE STAYCATION AT THE BARRACKS HOTEL, SENTOSA
It may feel like everyone on the island (Singapore) is heading to THE island (Sentosa) for staycations, daycations and mini-vacations. So how do you come up with a ‘getaway’ to truly get away from them all?
Enter, The Barracks Hotel. With only forty rooms, set within a historic colonial building — exclusivity is guaranteed. A former British artillery outpost, home to soldiers from afar. The Barracks has been lovingly restored to its current fine splendour.
It is both a luxurious and safe option for a getaway. From handshake-less warm welcomes to takeaway bento options for dine-in and shortened check-in processes, read all about their safety measures here
Rooms
There are forty rooms, all with either a balcony or a patio. No standard issue hotel rooms here so expect dwellings that boast warm wood tones, freestanding bath-tubs, upcycled vintage-style trunks and writing desks that scream colonial-era grandeur.
The Premier rooms have an outdoor patio, with direct access to The Barracks pool. Certain rooms (such as, The Garden Suite) have access to a semi-private jacuzzi. Rooms come with single-use amenities such as bath and shower toiletries by Atkinson, and bespoke tea blends by award-winning tea company, Pryce Tea.
The Barracks Pool
With a heritage building as its backdrop, The Barracks Pool which is a lap pool, is the perfect spot to while away the hours. Swim a few laps, sip a cocktail poolside or catch up on some much-needed ‘me time’ on one of the poolside chaise lounges.
Things to do
The Barracks is not the place to come to with an agenda. Perfect for rest and relaxation, and even a solo-cation. However, if you are done lazing by the pool, nursing a drink on the room’s balcony or soaking in the luxurious bathtub, you could take a complimentary self-guided audio tour around the hotel precinct, or a complimentary 45-minute Barracks heritage walking tour hosted by the Equerry team (should you prefer company).
Eat, drink, be merry
When it comes to daily breakfasts, decadent afternoon teas, cocktails and canapés, everyone converges at The Barracks’ Living Room: the hotel’s exclusive restaurant-lounge.
However, at The Barracks’ doorstep is the variety of restaurants at Sentosa’s Mess Hall. Take a look at the many options here
Treat yourself to these goodies …
