CHEAP DATE IDEAS FOR THOSE ON A BUDGET
You don’t need to SPEND-tosa to have a great time with your significant other on Sentosa.
'Love don’t cost a thing’, so there is no need to go on a date that costs the earth. Amiright? There are so many ways to celebrate love on our island, and many of these are free, affordable and extremely good value.
Nothing like an adventure with the one you love? Set off on a 1.8-kilometre trek through a tropical rainforest, on Sentosa Nature Discovery you can spot up to 20 different species of birds, insects, plants and even cute squirrels and geckos. Forgetting that you are still in Singapore is easy, and the easy trail can be completed while holding hands or arm-in-arm. The best part: it’s totally free!
Sentosa’s several kilometres of pristine coastline and three separate beaches offer numerous spots for you to cosy up on a picnic mat. Pack a picnic basket with all of your favourite nibbles (champagne and strawberries or chicken rice and Hokkien mee from Seah Im Hawker Centre), pick a shady spot and settle down. To up the romance ante: do this at sunset.
Apart from walking, cycling, picnicking, here’s something else you can do along Sentosa’s beaches: Segway rides. Glide around the beaches on a super-cool Segway personal transporter. No effort required, and it’s super easy with the free training provided. It also makes for excellent photo ops. Prices begin at an affordable $17.50 per person with this great deal.
Sentosa is best explored by bicycle, and if you and your date are both keen cyclists, you can take in the island's scenic sights and discover nooks and corners that you may not be able to access on foot. There are 3 interconnected cycling tracks with varying degrees of difficulty that take you through the beaches, viewpoints, nature reserves and more. No cycles? No stress! Rent one for only $12 (2-hour ride) via this exclusive online deal.
What's more romantic than watching a rom-com under a canopy of stars? For 12 days in the year, Tanjong Beach transforms itself to host the gorgeous Peroni Sunset Cinema. Open-air movies, DJs and food and drink — what's not to love; except maybe the prices which begin at $20 per person (worth it, imho!). Alternately, there are regular FREE movie screenings, and this time we're doing it at Sentosa Cove too, as part of Island Lights. You need to bring your own mat, drinks and nibbles, but that is a small price to pay for the experience.

The cheapest way to enter Sentosa island is by walking across the 670m Sentosa Boardwalk. To make this romantic, make this trek into the island at sunset while taking in the cable car views. The boardwalk is both sheltered and open-air with numerous spots to posts for photos. Make your way to the Waterfront and settle down for the free Crane Dance show (8pm, daily) which is actually an audio-visual, illusory, light and water show that depicts a love story. It’s completely free, and a lot of fun.
