Come 24 January 2009, the island of Sentosa will blossom in a million colours once again, as the Sentosa Flowers floral extravaganza returns for the fifth time to usher in the
Lunar New Year.
Manifesting itself in a kaleidoscope of fresh blooms from around the world, the theme for 2009, Colours of Spring, tells the story of a season of abundance in breathtaking floral displays that stretch beyond what the eye can see. Visitors will be able to capture the beauty of Springtime at many photography points throughout the festival, as well as enjoy a unique experience under the stars, as event hours extend to 10pm for just the second year.
Besides admiring the flora and fauna, guests can also look forward to exciting fringe activities that will engage the entire family. Be enthralled by the Giant Sculpture Display, participate in the Digital Photography Competition, and see budding talents in action at the Schools' Gardening and Sculpture Display Competition. Soak in the festive atmosphere at the bazaar-style Festive Market, where guests can purchase their favourite plants and develop their green fingers at home! So come on down to Sentosa and celebrate the arrival of Spring at this 9-day award-winning festival!
The Happy Cow Family decided to go on a trip of their own, travelling to the far corners of the world to experience the wonders and colours of Spring.
In Ireland, they marvelled at the sight of a beautiful giant rainbow and luscious carpets of golden flowers. Crossing the ocean to the Land of Texas, a sea of bluebonnet flowers shared with them the tale of a little brave Texas girl. On their next destination, they found the “Trees of Life” and received blessings from the six families of birds who were there singing their joyful songs of Spring.
The Happy Cow Family cheered as they sailed to the Far East and were treated to a feast of Spring blossoms by a sweet Japanese lady. On their way to the north, they enjoyed the hospitality of a bevy of bees that served them delicious drinks of honey made from the nectar of Spring flowers from around the world. At the North Pole, they were welcomed by families of polar bears and seals, who told them about the melting icecaps, and taught them lessons about recycling and reducing their carbon footprint – so they could play their part in saving nature and the Earth.
Arriving home in Asia just as the sowing of rice begun, they reached their happy abode, delighted to see their own garden springing up in millions of colourful blooms... SPRING HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!!
