Monthly Water Safety Demonstration

Beach education efforts have started in 2006. The monthly Water Safety Demonstration occurs every last Saturday of the month. This free demonstration will showcase a few rescue techniques used by the Beach Patrol Officers. We share basic lifesaving skills in this interactive session with the audience.

Beach Safety Outreach Programme

With the increase in the number of visitors and island offerings, we have launched the Beach Safety Outreach Programme on the 28th August 2010 to schools.

Our objectives:

• Students to be familiar with beach safety practices and will be able to protect themselves and others around them in open waters
• Able to care for beaches and its eco-systems in a responsible manner
• Equipped with a wide range of beach safety tips, which they can share with family members and friends

Armed with our newest addition to the team, Buddy Cool, our Beach Safety First ambassador, we visit schools to spread beach safety messages. The outreach programme aims to educate our future generations on beach safety so they are able to make discerning choices to protect themselves when in the open waters.

Key Messages:

Since the launch, the Beach Safety Outreach Programme has reached out to more than 10,000 students and teachers in 6 months. These include local schools, international schools and special needs schools.
