Dear Islander Member,

As you may know, Sentosa is preparing to welcome Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), Singapore's only family integrated resort in early 2010. Adding RWS to the many leisure and lifestyle offerings already established across the resort island, Sentosa will be home to more than 240 attractions, hotels, restaurants, bars and retail outlets.

In anticipation of the traffic surges we will be experiencing upon the opening of RWS, Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) have been working on improving traffic conditions in the Sentosa-HarbourFront precinct.

To complement the overall traffic management plan, SDC will introduce price changes for Sentosa's gantry and car parks effective from 18 January 2010.

How does this affect Islander members?

As our valued Islander members, you will continue to enjoy complimentary island admission into Sentosa via the Sentosa Express and buses from Seah Im Bus Terminal.

From 18 January 2010, the revised drive-in fees will apply to all visitors driving into the island. However, Islander members will continue to enjoy the current rate of $2 per vehicle entry till 31 January 2010 .

As the revised gantry and car park charges vary through the day and week, you can drive in for as little as $2 per vehicle during lunch time on weekdays and in the evenings. If you are driving into the island, we strongly encourage you to car pool or share a taxi to enjoy savings.

What is the overall traffic management plan?

A comprehensive traffic management plan has been in development between SDC and LTA for some time now. In December, LTA announced that road improvements to minimise congestion in the HarbourFront area are almost complete. Measures to improve public transport access to Sentosa are also in place. In the longer term, LTA is working on the construction of the Sentosa Gateway Tunnel by 2015, which will add additional road capacity in the area.

SDC has also bolstered its infrastructure, widened roads and put new Express trains into service. A second vehicular bridge which runs parallel to the existing bridge linking Sentosa to the mainland was opened in September, doubling road capacity to and from the island. The Sentosa Boardwalk, which will be ready by end 2010, will give visitors the additional option of a sheltered walk from VivoCity to Sentosa. SDC also plans to improve links within Sentosa, including a second cableway system.
