Our Approach |
 |
For Sentosa, we are proud to embark on our initial steps towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Despite all the developments we have on the
island, we are still actively practising the preservation of 70% of Sentosa's greenery, or about 350 hectares. There are 3 aspects of CSR which Sentosa considers in our mission and company's belief to contribute
back to the society, namely : People, Profit and Planet. |
|
|
Presently, Sentosa is adopting CSR through the following 3 approaches: |
Embedding CSR into our work culture
- Through education of staff (eg, recycling, saving electricity, avoid using disposables)
- Staff living by example
Respecting our past as we develop
Working with and around our natural environment
- The hotel rooms of Siloso Beach Resort was designed around the vegetation, thus preserving the island's natural environment
- Tourism Academy housed at the restored parade square, was thoughtfully conserved so as to retain a link back to the military past
- Coral reef project preserves the beautiful coral reefs on Sentosa's shores
- Amara Santuary Resorts was built upon the existing historic colonial barracks and designed to preserve its original colonial architecture with a clean uncluttered design. We were awarded
URA Architectural Heritage Awards 2007 for the conservation efforts. Read more here.
- We are developing nature trails within the Mt Imbiah reserve as part of our eco-tourism initiative and will include a nature visitor centre, a canopy walk where thematic planting providing informative and educational information about the diverse flora and fauna of a typical rainforest.
Preserving our future
